Dealing Room Support Engineer

2nd/3rd Line Engineer to work within Market Data infrastructure Team. Tasks include systems management of the Market Data back-end platforms & infrastructure. This includes, but is not restricted to, TIB/RV, RMDS 5/6, Bloomberg and in-house distribution systems. Additionally the candidate will undertake specific projects to cope with changes in business and operational demands.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a close team to provide technology support to all users of the Market Data Services including front office/desktop support teams, other technology groups, commercial members of the group and external clients.
  • Undertake external client market data connectivity projects.
  • Carry out improvements to automated monitoring systems.
  • Ensure effective communication with the business on issues arising.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of technical documentation.
  • Undertake system integration projects relating to Market Data distribution and delivery.
  • Installation and maintenance of infrastructure hardware, including installation of patches and upgrades, both in London and other European offices.
  • Some shift working will be required as is normal to support a trading floor between the core hours of 7am to 7pm
  • Some Weekend standby and overtime opportunities also exist

Skills

  • Must have worked in a similar, high pressure environment for at least 2 years.
  • Experience of the Investment Banking industry.
  • Understanding of a variety of infrastructures including: Direct Exchange Connectivity, Bloomberg, Reuters Dealing 3000, EBS Dealing, Reuters Data Feeds, DACS permissioning etc.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of a multiple operating systems, including UNIX (Solaris/SunOS), Linux, Windows XP
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non technical staff.
  • Understanding of Direct Exchange infrastructure and connectivity
  • Understanding monitoring, supporting and implementation of Market Data platforms
  • Ability to develop and maintain shell scripts within the UNIX environment i.e. Perl / Shell Scripting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Network Fundamentals such as TCP/IP, Multicasting, LAN's and WAN's, TIB/RV Delivery.
  • Experience of working on a multi-site architecture.
